Welcome to "Who Are You?" Suspect Interview number 6 with....
Little Ol' Me! MADVICKS!
As you may or may not know, I am 28, from a place called Solihull in the West Midlands, England. I am a huge Buffy, Angel, NCIS and Supernatural fan. I usually watch TV whilst marking end of topic tests or working on my laptop creating resources for School. I am a Science teacher to 11-16 year olds and have to teach Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Post-16 (16-18 years), I can teach Biology, Chemistry and Psychology. TV faves are the aforementioned Buffy, Angel, NCIS, Supernatural, along with CSI:LV, CSI:NY and CSI: Miami (of which I mainly watch to take the pee out of Horatio - he cares don't you know!), Alias, Nip/Tuck, Lost and Prison Break until Sky nicked them! I also enjoyed Charmed, enjoy currently Shark, House, Smallville, Heroes, The Shield, Brother and Sisters, Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy... Probably some more there I have forgotten. I also enjoyed Criminal Minds when it was on and am looking forward to Season 2 in a few weeks. Also loved Due South when it was on. I am not a fan of so-called Reality TV. I enjoy action/adventure and horror films, no chick-flicks for me thank you very much! I also love to read and my favourite author is British Horror Writer Graham Masterton. I collect Buffy/Angel figures and memorabilia (including trading cards) and now I have also started on Supernatural stuff. ;D Over to you folks, give me your best shot![/color] This thread runs until Saturday, 19th August 2007[/b][/u].

In teaching, do you prefer to give lectures, lead discussions, or do question and answers? You have been out all night and you have to be someplace in an hour, do you go home take a quick nap or just get a big cup of coffee? There is a serial killer on the lose, who finds him first: Gibbs or Grissom? why?

In teaching, do you prefer to give lectures, lead discussions, or do question and answers? Well... we don't actually do lectures over here. Teaching has shifted twice since I started: initially it was teacher led and the focus was on the teacher showing, demonstrating doing and keeping the kids captivated a kind of "we are pouring the knowledge in your brain" if you will. More recently, (within the last 12 months especially), the focus is on the student finding out for themselves. The teacher has to provide the barest structure so the kids can explore and learn themselves. Problem is, that relies upon a world where everyone is motivated to learn and that the kids can read/write/function independently. If you say to most kids take notes, you end up with everything thrown back at you. Ideally, you have to start by teaching the kids the basics i.e. summarising, taking notes, using glossaries, contents pages etc, which with a subject like Science you just cannot do.
Typically, I start of my lessons with a short written task (a fill the gaps, or a worksheet or list 3 things you learnt last lesson) or a verbal and random Q&A, following by an introduction to what we are learning today and the expected learning outcomes, sometimes we do some reading from a text book, or Internet research or straight into practical work as appropriate. Occasionally, the majority of the lesson might be open floor Q&A especially when looking at topics such as gene therapy, cloning etc, other times the 40 minutes of the whole 60 minute lesson might be practical work.
I suppose what I am saying is, it depends on the topic being studied, the ability of the kids, equipment availability etc that guides what the lesson is like. And yes, as a form of punishment if the kids have misbehaved I have them copying and answering questions from a textbook for a week's worth of lessons, it gets my point across about my expectations of class behaviour and learning. You have been out all night and you have to be someplace in an hour, do you go home take a quick nap or just get a big cup of coffee? I'm finding it hard to believe I'd be out all night, I still have an imposed curfew of 11pm from my parents. Live in their house, live by their rules deal. I don't drink coffee, hate the stuff, well like the smell but cannot drink it. So, I'd very likely opt for a shower or a power nap. There is a serial killer on the lose, who finds him first: Gibbs or Grissom? why? Gibbs, he's going to go with his gut and his training. Gil is going to follow the evidence which means tests which will take longer.

Does a kiss make your boo boos feel better? Yep. You offering? Have you ever passed out on the bathroom floor? Nope. I am a sad, boring person. What shoe do you put on first, left or right? Hmmm, depends, slip ons either foot, lace up or heels right foot first. Where'd you get that from? Have you ever had the naked dreams? (when you thought you were naked at school, in public, etc.) I haven't I don't think, unless I repressed them.Have you ever broken a bone? My right leg when I was 2 and the hospital plastered the left. And this kid called Darren Tullet nicked my ball when I was at school aged 11 and when I asked for it back he grabbed my hand and bent back my right little and ring fingers. The git.Do you know how to use chop sticks? It is a skill I have never mastered though tried repeatedly. Even the paper and elastic trick doesn't seem to help.Have you ever given money to a homeless person? To homeless charities and also to a chap on the street as he had a dog and I felt more sorry for the dog. As I walked away he pulled out his mobile. What is your favorite cereal? Erm... Frosties I supposed but I am on a Weetabix or fruit muesli porridge kick at the moment. Cardboard city all the way! If you were a drink, what would you be? Sex on the Beach. LOL! No, joking, maybe a cider or a pina colada.Where’s your favorite place to be? Sat on Thunder Mountain in Disney Florida, during October, with the sun shining and it being about 72 degrees. ;D What’s your ALL time favorite song? Blimey, don't think I could pin it to one. Maybe Mandy by Barry Manilow? Are you more of a coffee or alcohol drinker? Don't drink either. Hate coffee and alcohol does absolutely bugger all for me so I don't drink it. Much prefer a coke or a ginger ale and ice, if I am celebrating something special may be 1/2 pint of cider, but that is more for a change than the alcohol and we are maybe talking about a once every 2 years basis for the cider.Have you ever been skinny dipping? Sadly not. Not only would I frighten the horses but I'd frighten the fish. Have you ever been arrested? Nope. Told you I am a proper sad git.Do you dream in black and white? Nope, always colour.Do you snore? Nope, mom and dad do but not me.Have you ever gotten a mosquito bite on your face? Nope. Arms and legs when we went to Greece but not face. I did get sunburn blisters on the skin under your eyes though at Greece despite the sun lotion. Presume it was the salt from the ocean and a lot of swimming that did it. And water resistant sun lotion that wasn't.Do you sing in the shower? Nope. Don't really have a proper shower, its an attachment over the bath that I use really. More of a bath person. And usually when I have a bath, mom comes upstairs and sits in her bedroom talking to me. What’s the worst pick-up line you ever heard? I haven't had the luxury. Never been chatted up.What is your favorite part of the forum? What apart from the fabulous WAY section? I jest, I like all of it. I love seeing the art work, talking about new and old shows (or shooting the breeze in the Lounge) and playing games. Cannot give you one specific area that is my favourite really. I love the whole lot.Worst part? Don't think there is one. Each part serves its purpose well. May be the Reality TV part, but that is because I personally don't like reality TV. But the section serves its part well for those who do like reality TV.What made you get into doing graphics? Truthfully, I was envious of your and Lior's work and couldn't get my head around how you could *make* such fantastic banners/avatars/etc so fast and so apparently easily. I mean I gave you pics and quick as a flash it was done. So, envy and coveting your work. See breaking commandments and fulfilling deadly sins.

Right, intended to answer this earlier but my cousin dropped in for an impromptu visit! ;DVicks on the spotlight...Goodie!! Do your worst! 1. What's your favorite Supernatural episode and why? Ooooh, toughie! The one Dean gets naked in. LOL. Seriously, I liked the last 3 episodes of Season 1 and the season finale of Season 2. Cannot really pin it down to more specific than that - Sorry! I just love the whole fight the good fight, good against evil battle that goes on. Plus the acting from Jensen, Jared, Jeff, the chap who plays Bobby and also the Yellow-Eyed Demon are fantastic.2. You get 3 wishes - what would you ask for? 1. For my friends and family to be healthy. 2. To never want for anything. 3. Screw it, I'll be selfish to win the Lottery twice (once on the Euro Millions and once on the regular) either that or to have Jensen Ackles' car to break down outside our house! ;D3. What was the most evil thing you ever did? (Planing world-domination doesn't count! ) To be honest, I cannot think of anything, I do try to treat people as I'd want to be treated. I might have done something so I'll ponder on it and come back to you. BUT, I plan of being pretty f****** evil to my colleagues at work when we go back in September given the stunts they pulled before we broke up. 4. If you could gust star on any show, which would it be? Probably Supernatural, maybe NCIS. Depends do I get the guy? 5. You have such an awesome collection; if there anything you've seen but couldn't buy just yet? Thank you. Erm... Pre-production wise there are some factory sets out there that I missed out on S2 Short Hair Buffy, IKON Pink and Blue Buffy. I am pretty covetous of Matt's (monkeycop) IKON pre-pro Faith and also that Black top Cordy that some on on BTVSFigs has. Currently, kicking myself over not pre-ordering PF Lara with Excalibur. Might do a wait list job on that.6. List 5 facts about yourself. Would this be that no-one knows?
If so: 1) I was a twin, my fraternal brother (who would have been called John) dies at birth and I came out blue (cord round my throat) as the doctor attending mom pissed off for a snooze.
2) I was pretty good at swimming, got the Bronze, Silver and Gold Challenge awards and also have a 40 miles, yes, miles swimming award that had to be completed in a certain amount of time. I was going to go and join the Junior Olympiads but it was late on a Sunday night and mom was worried about it affecting my GCSEs.
3) I met Jeremy Kyle (when he was known as Jezza) when he worked for local radio station BRMB and have a signed BRMB T-Shirt.
4) I represented the West Midlands twice in kick-boxing tournaments.
5) I always wanted to get the Superman Shield as a tattoo on my upper left arm but keep chickening out. But I do have my ears pierced 3 times. 7. How did you became fascinated with gardening? Not fascinated so much. It came about that mom had to do less as she had a hysterectomy, then she developed this massive hernia. I got into it to try to take the strain/pressure off mom.8. Any dead people you'd like to meet? Probably Winston Churchill or my maternal and paternal grandparents. 3 of them were dead before I was born and my maternal grandmother died when I was 6, so I didn't really know her at all.9. Favorite movie of all times? Ooh, Star Wars Original Trilogy, Superman 1 and 2, Conan the Barbarian and Destroyer, The Terminator, Rocky 1-4, Jaws 1-3, The Lost Boys.... Probably some more. Like Tony DiNozzo I am a cinemaphile.10. What would be your dream vacation? Besides landing on your doorstep to annoy the heck out of you for a fortnight! Probably to do a tour of the US and Canada, I think we have pretty much done Orlando to death now. ;D

LOL! You know you are always welcome to come and annoy me...though it would be hard so better practice before. Anyway, more questions! ;D 1. Tomorrow you pick up your newspaper and find out it contains the event of the day after that; what would you do? And how far would you for to stop something bad from happening? 2. If you get an invitation to take part of Heroes second season with option to choose your own powers - what would you choose? 3. Your most disliked person shows up and asks for your help (something non life threatening). Would you help or send him away? 4. What would be the 3 things you just have to do before the world ends?

LOL! You know you are always welcome to come and annoy me...though it would be hard so better practice before. Heehee! ;DAnyway, more questions! ;D Goodie.1. Tomorrow you pick up your newspaper and find out it contains the event of the day after that; what would you do? And how far would you for to stop something bad from happening? If I had the newspaper as tangible proof, I'd go as far as I could, tell as many people as possible before I was locked up by the men with the butterfly nets. I'd also make sure my mom and dad would hopefully be safe.2. If you get an invitation to take part of Heroes second season with option to choose your own powers - what would you choose? Ability to fly/move super fast and be invulnerable, kind of like a certain caped crusader. 3. Your most disliked person shows up and asks for your help (something non life threatening). Would you help or send him away? Depends on how bad the situation is. I'd like to say I'd help but I have a dark side.4. What would be the 3 things you just have to do before the world ends? Get laid! Tell my mom and dad I love them and put my favourite clothes and make up on, cos why not go out looking good?

Grave1. If you could change something about yourself, if anything, what would it be? I'd have kinda liked to have kept my internal bits that I have lost. And get rid of my tummy that will not shift regardless of exercise or diet. Goddammit! Or maybe sort out the hair...2. If you could turn back time, or do something differently what would it be? Never going into teaching for starters and probably kicking up a real big fuss when the Head of Psychology at Birmingham Uni fell asleep during my final year presentation as he had flown in from the US on a red eye (got in at 5am GMT time) and watched presentations all day, mine was the last one at 6pm and he marked me down. Great answers to all these questions and the other 5 suspects too Thank you. The questions have been great so far, some really thought provoking and deep!

SlayerLV1. Who is your favorite singer? Don't really have a single one. I like Bryan Adams, Bon Jovi, Evanescence, Nickelback, Savage Garden, Crowded House, Barry Manilow (LOL!), The Calling and a few others.2. Who is your favorite actress and actor outside of the Buffyverse? Actress: Probably Angelina Jolie Actor: Don't know I like a few... Jensen Ackles, Hugh Laurie to name two.3. Who is your role model? Probably my mom.4. What is your favorite song? Still pondering that one, maybe Mandy by Barry Manilow.5. What is your favorite cartoon? Again couldn't narrow it down, I love loads of the 80's cartoons as I grew up on them: He-man, She-Ra, X-Men, Defenders of the Earth, Dogtanian and the 3 Muskerhounds, Tom and Jerry etc.6. Do you read comic books? If so what is your fave? Really only read the Buffy and Angel ones and now the Supernatural Origins release. Probably most enjoyed some on the early Buffy ones the most.7. Do you like X-Men? If so who is your favorite mutant? I always had a soft spot for the X-Men cartoon! And the films are great. Gambit from the Cartoon and Wolverine from the films. 8. What is your favorite scary movie? Probably Nightmare on Elm Street.9. Who is your favorite superhero? Tie between Superman and Spidey, but Supes probably edges it.

ShepWhat career would you be doing if you werent a Teacher? I wanted to go down the Criminal Psychology route, but maybe Chemical Engineering or one of the Armed Forces. What are you like when you have to discipline your pupils? I am told I shoot evil glares, I try to appeal to the this is your only chance hearing bit of the brain. If really pushed, I can shout and my voice projects very well and easily, so it is loud. That shocks the kids. Mostly, I take the "what are you doing? You are better than this." route.Do you get taught management techniques when it comes to discipline? Not really... Though we did have this chap lecture us on the language of choice! A kid chooses to misbehave so we must address that in our challenge. Right load of Bull manure.Do you believe in corporal punishment? Actually, yes. Some kids, you can talk to until you are blue in the face, appeal to their better sides, bribe them, approach parents for support, give them detentions, but in fact I think a short sharp shock would work in most cases. Especially if you could slap them in the face when they have just told you to go F*** yourself in front of the class.Do you want kids someday? I did but that's off the table now. Am looking to hopefully adopt.Have you ever straightened that long curly hair of yours? Once and my hair did not like it one bit. It went all brittle despite the sprays and protective lotions and started to fall out. First and last time. What do you wear in bed? Nighties or pyjamas? PJs with knickers. What car do you drive? A Fiat Panda Skydome in Romantico Blue, 1242 cc engine, 2006 model. I get in excess of 40 to the gallon in and around town so I am happy.Which actor form Buffy/Angel would you like to date? David Boreanaz or James Marsters. How invited you to this forum? The main man Pedro! Do you think you will be getting a gold pass for the next Collectormania? Depends on who attends really. If the guests are there on the Friday then I shall try and get there in the afternoon after school. If it is going to be a mad rush for the likes of Brandon Routh or James Marsters or they are Saturday only attenders then probably. What do you do with your Autographs? Frame them? Display them? Keep the Buffy/Angel ones in a large A4 Buffy ring binder, one with the D rings. Keep the Non-Buffy and Angel ones in a smaller A4 regular Buffy ring binder. Are your questions bugging you? Not in the slightest, its nice to introspect.Do you watch Dexter on FX Sundays? Would do but don't have cable or Sky.What music are you listening to at the moment? Nothing. What was the last Buffy/Angel episode you watched? Blimey probably Not Fade Away. Haven't watched any Buffy or Angel in 2 years now. If you could change something about yourself what would it be? Hair, belly... And personality wise be a bit more ruthless and less tolerant with my colleagues at work. Because you are nice and easy going you get taken for a prat.Whats your fave game in the Game Section? Cannot narrow it down to one really, I think there are probably 5 or 6 (maybe more) that I regularly post in: Alphabet Games, Word Association, Survivor, Name 5, Forum Members Quiz etc.
