Who here has watched it? I just bought season one last night and I'm through the first disc, and one episode on the second disc. So far it's pretty good, but I did have a few problems with the pilot: - I felt that they revealed Max was an alien a little too quickly. Yes, I know the show is called "Roswell" and I'm sure that the promos that ran when it first aired probably spilled the beans anyway, but just from a storytelling perspective, I would have liked to have seen a little more build up rather than having it revealed within the first ten minutes. - Along the same lines, I didn't like that Max gave up his secret to Liz so easily. It didn't feel natural to me. He's been keeping this secret for years and not even a lame excuse to try and cover it up? I know he had feelings for her but that was a huge risk to take for a girl he didn't even know what her reaction would be. -I would have liked to have seen a little more backstory for the characters. We got the basics we needed to get by but that's not enough for me! I suppose they're little nitpicks. I can live with them and they didn't detract from the overall storyline. It just didn't feel 100% fleshed out to me. Just my being spoiled by The Whedon I guess Nitpicks aside, I can't wait to finish the first season. I love William Sadler and he does a great job as the Sheriff. Excellent role for him. It's also nice to see Julie Benz pop up, and her character is starting to take an interesting turn. ;D I'm also hoping they give Isabel more to do. I really like her and she's kind of underused at the moment.

I loved season 1 ! the tension arc at the end of season 1 was amazing and totally thrilled me I don't want to spoil you so I can't say too much sadly season 2 was not so good, it had some very inetresting episodes and was not bad at all but not as good as season 1 I'm so excited about season 3 though, will start to watch it on DVD soon I agree about Max telling too fast that he's an alien I was kinda surprised because I thought it will take at least 5 eps but its like you said, its called roswell, it wasn't a surprise after all that they are aliens, oh well

I just got the Roswell set and haven't started watching it yet. When I do I'll be able to post more. Are there any episodes that you would recommend watching in a certain order (to make things make more sense plotwise) or should I just go in order? Thank for any help!

Well, I finally finished the series a couple of days ago. SPOILERS AHEADOverall it was a pretty good series. Some really weak points and a lot of "WTF?"moments, but no show is without those. Thoughts on season two - not quite as good as season one. Went a little too far into the sci-fi element of the show in my opinion. But I enjoyed it overall. I did really like that Valenti became one of the good guys and was now there to help. And Kyle's character surprised me. I wasn't a big fan of his in season one. This season he was a little more involved with things and I really started to like him a lot. Tess was...meh. She seemed to be such an important character in the couple of season one episodes she was in, and this season she was just sort of there. Nothing much to do until the last few episodes. It seems most fans hate her, and part of me wants to but, ugh, Emilie de Ravin is just so cute! I don't know if I can bring myself to do it. LOL One thing that really bugged me was the whole Skins thing. During the first part of the season, I'm thinking they're the big bad. Then Tess does her mind..thing and they all go poof. But then Nicholas isn't dead, no explanation as to how. THEN, the whole alien peace conference thing or whatever, Max won't give Nicholas the granilith, Nicholas is all "Our offers are withdrawn." and then we never hear about the Skins again. I'm sorry, but what? No attempt to try and steal it back or anything? They must not have wanted it that badly, I guess. And the duplicates of the four aliens I felt was pretty stupid. When it was revealed in "Summer of 47" that there were two sets of four pods, I got excited thinking we'd get some new alien characters. But no, just some pretty lame "New York punker" versions of the Pod Squad(which I might add, we also never hear a peep about again in the series). I think the writers blew a huge opportunity to do something really cool with that. Those are my only two main gripes with the second season. Like I said, I enjoyed it overall. They just did some weird things in it. And one thing I want to ask, hopefully one of you can answer. When exactly did Valenti lose his job as Sheriff? I know he was suspended , but then that Agent hired him to help her investigate the Laurie Dupree case and she promised she could get his job back if he cooperated. After that arc, I'm pretty certain there's a few episodes where he is indeed sheriff again, and then all of the sudden in "Off The Menu" he's not? Did I miss something completely? Anyway, Season three I liked more than the second. It seems most people really dislike it but I found it pretty enjoyable. Though it's also not without it's share of problems either. Like the skins thing in season two, Kavar making a return and seeking out Isabel I thought was going to be a main story arc, but was resolved in the one episode which was kind of disappointing. And I didn't like that the last episode was incredibly rushed. It also felt incredibly odd that Valenti would let Kyle go off with everyone else. I honestly thought that he would go with them. I mean, he was healed by Max too, so Kyle's reasoning for going with everyone applied to Valenti just as much. Things I did like - Again, Kyle's character and his development. He really became a great character and one of my favorites. And it seemed he was developing feelings for Isabel which would have been great to explore further had the show continued for a fourth season. Surprisingly, I ended up liking Jesse a lot too. Wasn't too sure what to make of him early on. I just knew he would turn out to be an undercover FBI agent and was pretty pleased that it didn't turn out that way. I think he was a pretty good addition to the cast of characters. This season also contained my absolute favorite moment of the series - Max proposing to Liz. The romantic in me absolutely ate it it up! I never thought we'd ever see that and it was a great surprise. Loved it. So yeah, I think it would have been great to have a fourth season to wrap up some loose ends, but the series didn't end badly. In fact it ended almost bittersweet.

Roswell is my favourite show after Buffy/Angel. I love it.
I think Season 1 is probably my favourite, but the Season 3 finale is one of my favourite episodes.
I love the Max/Liz relationship, as well as Michael/Maria.
Brilliant show.

Angelus I completely agree with you on all points....and all the things you pointed were the things that just dipped the show down in my opinion.
Still an AMAZING how but some of the opportunites the writers missed is quite annoying.
One thing....the season 2 episode...where future max comes back to tell liz she has to break up with him otherwise the world will be destroyed etc....well they got back together and married in the end so surely this means the world is gonna end again and its all gonna turn out crappy.....or did something change that I missed that meant this would no longer happen?

SPOILER
I have always wondered about that! He came back to break up with her because they needed Tess to help protect the world, but Tess died, and Max and Liz get married. I think this means the world is doomed.

I don't know. I was under the impression that world would come to an end because the Skins(or whoever) got their hands on the Granilith. Since that obviously didn't happen and it was destroyed after Tess used it to get home, I would think that particular timeline is pretty much defunct.
Just the way I saw it.

I watched it from the first episode to the last and loved every one. The characters were just so well written. I think that all of the couples at the end were perfect and the finale was very well done. I just wish that it would've lasted a nit longer. I also really wanted action figures of all of the main characters or at least busts.

Angelus, I wanted to add a note that I totally agree about the flaws in the storyline. Season one was my favorite. I was drawn in the first episode when he revealed himself to Liz and to us and it was like we were learning everything as she was. I think the second season got off track a little and the writers could have been better. I don't really remember to much about the last season. The show was moved to a different network and I missed a lot of it. Overall great show and my favorite part was the chemistry between Liz/Max and Michael/Maria.

Well, I watched the pilot last night for the first time and really enjoyed it. And you're right it was really exposition heavy! But, for as many things that they revealed, I thought many questions remained. I liked Liz-Max alot. Once again parallels of forbidden love... Buffy/Angel anyone;) I'm looking forward to watching a few more at a time.. long weekend maybe. And is it me or does anyone see a resemblance between the guy who plays Michael and David Duchovny? Punk hair aside.. I thought he could play a young Mulder if needed!
