Or is it an acquired taste?

I like him. I don't think he's the funniest man alive, but I liked his old show. I also loved him on My Name is Earl this week doing his famous Burt Reynolds impression (from the Jeopardy skit on SNL) as Burt Reynolds' character's son.

I don't think that he is the funniest man alive...but I do enjoy his comedy. His dry sence of humour at times can be quite witty. Norm MacDonald is definately an acquired taste

I prefer the humor of Denis Leary, alive, Richard Pryor & Bill Hicks, unfortunately both dead. The first time I heard Pryor I was in so much pain from laughing.
