I keep hearing about Kate Walsh, who plays McDReamy's ex-wife Addison, getting her own spin-off.
I love her and I'd hate her to leave the show, but more Grey's Anatomy sounds great.
They are talking about signing Tim Daly to be another McDreamy type character. He's pretty hot, so I think it has potential.
My only concern is that I don't want the original show to suffer from the creator's attention being diverted.

It's been confirmed that Tim Daly will be in the spin-off. Merrin Dungey from Alias will play a psychiatrist. It will take place in Los Angeles. I guess that will make it easy to get outside shots, since the regular show films there and I'm sure the new one will, too.
Amy Brenneman from Judging Amy will appear in a two hour episode, perhaps the premiere?

Here's an article on the Grey's spin-off that appeared on AOL today:
Details on 'Grey's Anatomy' Spinoff Emerge Dr. Addison Looks To Be Headed South During Sweeps
It's turning out to be the worst-kept secret in Hollywood. The 'Grey's Anatomy' spinoff that was rumored to cause tensions on the set of the hit ABC medical drama looks to be moving full steam ahead.
According to the Los Angeles Times, details of the show were revealed at a recent presentation with advertisers.
Dr. Addison Montgomery looks to be headed south to California in a 'Grey's' spinoff. No details on a potential air date for the new series are confirmed.
Just because the original show worked doesn't mean a spinoff will.
During May sweeps, 'Grey's' will air a two-hour installment focusing on Dr. Addison Forbes Montgomery (played by Kate Walsh) and her reconnection with friends from medical school living in California (played by Taye Diggs and Merrin Dungey).
Diggs' character is a successful TV health personality and works closely with several other doctors that the Times describes as "a widowed alternative medicine doctor, a self-doubting therapist and a male gynecologist who knows little about women."
Addison decides that this is where she wants to be and makes the announcement to her colleagues at Seattle Grace that she'll be moving south to join them.
There have been rumors on various TV blogs that the series carries the tentative title of 'Private Practice.'
The Hollywood Reporter has said that the rest of the cast will include actors Tim Daly, Chris Lowell, Paul Adelstein (of 'Prison Break') and former 'Judging Amy' star Amy Brenneman.
Earlier this year, there were rumors that certain members of the 'Grey's Anatomy' cast were taken by surprise with the news of the plans for Walsh's character. This came at a time when star Katherine Heigl's contract negotiations went public and Isaiah Washington was seeking counseling after his anti-gay slurs on the set and backstage at the Golden Globe Awards.
'Grey's Anatomy' was moved to Thursday nights for its third season and has thrived on what is considered the most important night of the week for TV advertisers.
