I didn't like this episode nearly as much as last week's.
It looks like Nathan might be turning to the dark side. I have hope that he'll pull it out at the end, but it did seem like he was agreeing to allowing or helping to create the catastrophic event that will allow Nathan to rise to power as a leader in dark times. There's a whole conspiracy theory out there that Bush knew that 9/11 was going to happen and let it happen for the same reasons. I wonder if the Heroes writers know about this theory and are basing this crazy, horrible storyline on that. It's very dark and eery.
Mrs. Petrelli is just awful! Man, she's like Cruella de Ville.
I just didn't get how Sylar's religious mom who believed in him and wanted him to push for more could make him into a psychopath. That doesn't mesh psychologically. Psychopaths usually come from severe abuse.
Hiro's sword was destroyed! How sad. I liked when Hiro said that he didn't want to become that future Hiro he and Ando met last week. He was so cute last week when he said about his future self, "I scare me." Of course, everything present day Hiro does is adorable.
I thought Mohinder was looking especially hot this week when he was working with the little girl. A hot guy with a hot accent being sweet to a child is especially hot. He's great eye and ear candy. I hope they don't kill him off.
So far my guesses for the big season finale bomb kill off are Nathan, Micah, Radioactive Man, and DL. Bennet, Parkman and Mohinder could be alternates. I guess that's most of the gang. I'd probably be better off saying who I think won't die: Hiro, Peter, Claire and Nikki/Jessica.

I posted this in the String Theory thread, since I personally couldn't think of much to really say about this episode to make an entire new thread for it, but might as well post it here now too:
Well, from the latest episode we now know that DL can phase other people through things, so it probably was his power that Sylar used (in String Theory)
Actually, I wasn't really impressed much with this latest episode. The Sylar and his mother thing was fairly sleep inducing. The rest I've already forgotten since it wasn't even that memorable. Hopefully next two are better.
Slight Spoiler, I guess: (Highlight) I heard that there will be 3 new characters introduced in the finale, setting it for Season 2. One will be Paris-Hilton-esque, another being an asian woman, and the third a male model.
People keep moaning that the male cast greatly outweighs the female cast, so methinks they won't kill off Claire or JeNiki anytime soon.
I want to see Peter die. I personally find him a really boring character, and because of the power he has, he's pretty much unstopable and will eventually be able to do anything and everything. I think the storyline would get pretty crap eventually, because they could always rely on him to save the situation, no matter what. So I think he really has to go. I'm all for Matt dying too, I don't see how much further they can really go with his story.
I'm cool with everyone else surviving, DL and Micah purely for JeNiki's sake.

I can see what you mean about Peter. He is already pretty unstoppable, at least if he can get control of his powers and learn to fight better. I really want to see his powers advance, like they were in the future. That was an awesome Peter to watch. The one I'm really concerned about being unstoppable is Sylar. He obviously is not controlled by Hiro's power, for some reason, so they need Peter until Sylar is neutralized. I think that it's quite possible that they will kill Peter off in the finale, just to be shocking. That'd the the biggest shocker.

Here is my theory on the finale...pure speculation
I believe that in the final showdown will be Peter facing Sylar again... Sylar goes all Ice and of course Peter goes nuclear (as foreshadowed in string theory) Nathan in an act of sacrifice (and redemption) grabs Peter just right before he explodes and flies him into the air thus saving NY as Peter explodes Sylar is momentarily shocked and distracted by this and it is here that Hiro takes advantage and stabs Sylar killing him as the rest of who survives watches on.
an alternate theory... starting as above but
Instead of Hiro....Ted will grab Sylar and go nuclear just as he did in the Bennett house thus killing Sylar so I believe it will be either Hiro or Ted that finally gets Sylar
Nathan of course will be dead....Peter rejuvenates and will do the guilt thing next season. Sylar will probably get one or two more before the finale...my bet will be DL and Matt and the Haitian Linderman will have Mr Bennett killed The organization will lock Ted away again
I think that Claire, Nikki/Jessica, Micah, Mohinder, Hiro/Ando and Peter will be around next season
That is my guess on the outcome...Lame I know; but it is fun speculating
as far as the episode "The Hard Part goes" I think that Ellen Greene did a great job portraying Sylar"s mother and I think that her death has killed any humanity left in Sylar (not that there was much to begin with) Hiro was cute when he shouted at the skyline " Don't worry NY I will save you!"
though this episode wasn't as exciting as others...I think that seeds were definitely sown and hints given; leading up to the finale.

Interesting theories KENT....... As for Sylar Girlpower...I believe Hiro's power works based on his state of emotion..like confidence...when he had trouble in the past using them was cause he felt guilty for not saving the waitress and his confidence and emotional status was bad....the sword renewed his confidence cause he believed in it's legend and he felt like a warrior when he held it....I noticed as he was about to kill Sylar he had doubts and his confidence was not up there....that caused the glitch in his power and allowed Sylar to snap out of the frozen state....Sylar seemed a bit disoriented after the glitch...

I was really confused about that part, because Hiro had clearly stopped time, but then Sylar's eyes looked to the side. That was creepy. Weird that he would snap out of it, since if he was in a time stopped place, he wouldn't know it. It's kind of reminscent of when demons would force their way out of Piper's freezing power on Charmed. Kent, I like your speculations. It seems surprising that they would kill off Sylar, though. He's such a scary villian. I think it'd be more likely that he'd take on Nathan's identity after Nathan died and take over his Congressional seat, eventually running for president. Wouldn't that be a dark storyline?

I was just rewatching this episode and I thought that Sylar's mom looked really familiar. She looks and talks like the girl who played Audrey in the Little Shop of Horrors movie in 1986. I looked it up and it was her! Her name's Ellen Greene. I thought that was funny. She has a pretty unmistakable way of moving and talking.

Liking the first theory Kent. Seems realistic!
I think Sylar, now that he mentioned in the ep that he "Could be President" is for sure going to go after Nathan, but also after Candice, which makes obvious sense. Her power is a cool one. Which means he might cross Micah too. And possibly DL and Jessica. Hope there's a big fight there.
Though crap if he gets Molly Walker's power. With Charlie's memory thing, he could memorize any of Mohinders lists instantly and then bam, find them all and kill them. He'd be worse than before.

The more powers he has, the scarier he is. That super hearing power he got from the lady mechanic seemed innocuous at the time, but he scoped out Hiro and Ando so fast because he could hear their heartbeats. I was so freaked when he went after them. I was thinking that he pretty much should be unstoppable because he has the power of that girl who was able to block others' powers. Seems like he could neutralize Peter or anyone else with just a though. *shivers* Sylar is so scary!
