This show is so great. They should have 24 hour To Catch a Predator, since law enforcement doesn't seem to be doing enough to take care of the epidemic menace of child molesters trolling for victims online.
The biggest problem is that the sentences for these guys are too short. We need to make tougher laws that mandate any adult soliciting sex from someone 14 or under will go to jail for at least 10 years. Sending them to jail for months or just a couple of years is ridiculous, because they'll just get out and do it again. Next time they probably won't get caught.
The guys convicted from evidence from this show have a whole lot of evidence against them. If they can't get a long sentence from TV footage of them admitting what they did, then no one can.

This may sound harsh ...but it is how I feel.... I believe that anyone convicted of child molestation (beyond the shadow of doubt) The penalty should be execution...they have taken a childs innocence and the damage is long lasting and from which the child may never fully recover...so to defile a child I believe that the only punishment is death

I believe that anyone convicted of child molestation (beyond the shadow of doubt) The penalty should be execution...they have taken a childs innocence and the damage is long lasting and from which the child may never fully recover...so to defile a child I believe that the only punishment is death I think there is a lot to be said for getting these guys off the street for life. They have an almost 100% rate of reoffending. The average molester has something like 26 victims over their life. How many lives are ruined? Plus, some victims become offenders themselves, particularly the males. Certainly not all. I know some men who have been molested who have done therapy and are very driven to help others, not hurt others. I understand how you feel about executing them. Emotionally, I can feel like that, too. I'm not a big advocate of the death penalty, but this kind of crime is so heinous, that it can seem like the thing to do. However, when you look at the rates at which DNA is showing that so many have been wrongfully accused of crimes, it makes the death penalty seem even more dangerous. A lot people who have already been put to death have later been exonerated by DNA evidence. Sadly, in most molestation cases, it becomes a matter of "he said, she said." It's the victim's word against the suspect's word. This is why prosecutors will let these guy's cop to a lesser plea, often one that is not a sexual crime, just to guarantee that they convict the person of SOMETHING. So then the perpetrator does not have to register as a sex offender. My sister used to prosecute molesters and she said that that this was the most common practice. Anyway, I think that the main thing is that the laws and sentencing penalties have to get FAR MORE severe. I know it won't curtail the crime, but it can get some of these predators off the streets for more time.

I think we should nip the problem in the bud and kill everybody under the age of 25 with a dull butterknife. After all, what better way to eliminate a problem that to eliminate it's food source. . .

So would you prefer the knife across your throat or straight through your ribcage?

They just had another episode of To Catch a Predator on this week. It was so awesome.
I just love how these people sit there like idiots and answer all of Chris's questions, admitting what they were planning to do with the kid. Crazy, stupid creeps! It's hard to believe so many of them get away with it.
The stuff these scumbags say is unbelievable, like the 60 year old who had described graphically what he wanted to do to a girl he thought was 12 years old. He said that it was just "sexual entertainment." To think of the lives this scum has ruined over his lifetime.
Last week Chris Jensen also do one called To Catch an Identity Thief. He was talking to this American guy who was an unwitting pawn in this huge identity theft ring out of Africa. And they guy actually says, "You have to be careful about who you meet online. You don't know if they are who they say they are. Do you know that show To Catch a Predator on Dateline?"
Chris Jensen gets all amused and says in his usual ironic tone, "I've SEEN that show."
Fricking cracked me up! Then they started talking about all these episodes of Chris's show. It was so great. Truth is stranger than fiction sometimes.
