I made this a thread about makeover shows in general, because there are so many. I love personal and home makeovers, but this thread is for personal makeovers.
I'm just mad for them. I love makeovers!
I know appearance is a small, shallow part of life, but a lot of people have complexes about it.
I love the idea of change and making things better.
My favorite makeover shows are What Not to Wear, 10 Years Younger, and How Do I Look?
What Not to Wear is cool, because they really get into why certain styles are unflattering. I don't like Stacy London. I think she's a loud mouth and very abrasive. I love her style, though. Clinton is very nice. I don't like that he always wants to put men in striped shirts. I don't think most people can get away with wearing prints. Men especially don't look good in prints or any design on their shirts.
10 Years Younger is interesting because they do a lot of stuff with improving people's smiles and laser treatments for acne scars and deep sun damage. A lot of the guests have really deep emotional wounds from scarring or feeling they are ugly, so I think it's neat that they are made to feel pampered and beautiful.
10 Years Younger also helps people emotionally sometimes by sending them to relaxation or other kinds of therapy, helping them be more adventurous by sending them hang gliding, or any number of creative things.
What I don't like about 10 Years Younger is that the hair dresser likes to cut women's hair pretty short. I don't think very many women look good with short hair. I tend to think that her styles make a lot of the women look worse. The hair dresser has a pixie cut that varies between purple, pink, and blue. I can't figure out why anyone would trust their hair with someone who looks like that.
Also, 10 Years Younger puts people in a glass box and has other people guess their age and say what is wrong with them. Then they show the person the tape of what people said! It's really mean. They sometimes cry. I fast forward through that part.
How Do I Look is a little intense, because two of the person's loved ones and a professional stylist go through the person's closet and make all kinds of mean comments. I always fast forward through that part. I never think any of the three collections is very good on it's own.
I love shopping for other people, so it's always interesting hear tips on that stuff.
Is anyone else a makeover show addict?
