I started a new thread cause I didn't want this to effect general chat on the series, so I hope thats okay. Well rumor spread that TheCW was close to signing on for a 13-episode season (which would be the series' 8th). That plan has fallen through, The CW has released this statment on their offical site: blog.cwtv.com/I really don't know what to say. I was getting attached to the idea of another season, cause I feel Paris, Lane and the surrounding cast won't get their rightful closure... Though I guess Lane got some last episode... but Emily and Richard and others are still so wide open... Oh well.

SAD!!! I had been preparing for it to end this year, but then talk of another season got me excited. They got my hopes up, then BOOM! tore them away. I'm definitely tired of Rory's story, but I will miss Lorelai and all the peripheral characters, especially Kirk, Miss Patty, Suki, Cesar, Lane, Mrs. Kim, and the band. The town meetings are the funniest part of the show. As much as Taylor bugs me, watching him fight with Luke is pretty hilarious. This season hasn't been great, but it's been getting better the last copule of episodes. I hope that it goes out with some fun and Luke and Lorelai getting married. Pulling them apart this season has really sucked.

For me GG was my safe spot...one show that was always realistic and pretty optimistic (not a single main character death). And I'm definitely gonna miss that.
But with that said, I think 7 seasons is a great run and even though the show can go till they cast is like 100, ending it now won't be that bad. I agree that from what it looks like other characters might not get a decent closure (though it looks like Paris and Lane in the good place already), but we still have two episodes to go and I'm sure the writers knew well enough it might be the last season so the season/series finale gonna be suiting.

Speaking of other characters, hasn't it been a kick to see Danny Strong as Paris's boyfriend the past few years. He's been awesome. I always loved him on Buffy. It does seem a little wonky that someone as evil as Paris got into every place she wanted to. I liked it better when she was rejected from Harvard and had a meltdown on CSPAN. Now that was good TV.

And here I am thinking that Paris has been as good as a friend to Rory as any girl has had. Seemed almost downright realistic from an outsiders opinion I think what truly killed the show was last season when they turned Lorelei into the neurotic hussy rebelling against her parents at any cost rather than the established (and better) "girl done good" on her own. When you loosen the anchor, the show sets sail. . .

Seemed almost downright realistic from an outsiders opinion I think what truly killed the show was last season when they turned Lorelei into the neurotic hussy rebelling against her parents at any cost rather than the established (and better) "girl done good" on her own. When you loosen the anchor, the show sets sail. . . Ah well, I guess we have opposite ideas of what makes a good friend. I think that Lane is a really sweet, supportive friend. Paris, however, is paranoid, vicious, vengeful, and competitive to a pathological degree. Any time that Paris felt the slightest bit hurt by a situation that even peripherally involved Rory, she would try to destroy Rory. There were numerous instances of Paris acting this way in high school, from the way she initially tried to make Rory quit school when Rory started at Chilton, to when she turned on Rory the first time after Rory had tried to get Tristan to date Paris, but he wanted Rory instead. - She turned everyone against Rory in high school when she suspected that Rory mentioned to someone that Paris had a boyfriend. Not only was it an extreme reaction, but it was vicious and horrible. - She went so far as to try to ban Rory from working on the Chilton paper, and when that didn't work, she tried to make her suffer so much that she would quit the paper. - She destroyed Lorelai's clothes Rory had loaned her to help. - She told the whole school about Max and Lorelai kissing, just to deflect attention off of school gossip about her parents. - She announced on CSPAN that Rory was a virgin just because she was bitter that she didn't get into Harvard. - She threw Rory out of their shared apartment, putting all of her belongings in the hallway of a tenament in a bad neighborhood, because she was mad that Rory was elected editor of the Yale paper after Paris had been fired as editor for almost running the paper into the ground. Not only has Paris been vicious and attacking to almost everyone around her (with the notable exception of Asher Fleming), but she has never given Rory the benefit of the doubt in any situation, always jumping to an extreme situation and punishing Rory in the more hurtful way she can find. The reason their friendship has endured is because Rory is an infinitely forgiving person. Really, she's pretty much been Paris' doormat all of these years. I think if she was less shy, she probably would have made more friends. But overall, it was just lack of setting boundaries with Paris that allowed Paris' pushiness to keep infiltrating Rory's life. Paris always came back to Rory when she needed Rory for something, whether it was a friendly ear, a shoulder to cry on, or a sympathetic running mate in the school election. I think what makes Paris funny to watch is precisely that she is such a horrible person. No sane person would think, say, or do the things Paris does. Even the nastiest people I've known in real life weren't as consistently intense, vicious and narcissistic as Paris is. She's a caricature, just like a lot of the people on GG. It's her outrageousness that makes her entertaining, IMO.

Oh man, I saw the preview for the finale last night and I'm so sad. I woke up in a sad mood, with the thought that I'm losing my Girls! What a loss. Another favorite show bites the dust.
The finale looks like it's just a big going away party for Rory in the town square that Luke organizes at the last minute. Lorelai is so impressed that they run into each other's arms and kiss.
I wonder if the party will turn into an impromptu wedding for Luke and Lorelai. I'd really have rather seen them together this year, without that detour of her marrying, then divorcing Christopher. That was lame.
I also wonder where Rory is going. Did she get a job in San Francisco, so she's going to be with Logan, or is she off somewhere else, single and free?
That ending that Amy Sherman-Palladino said she'd always had written for the last scene of the show will probably not be included. I just wish we knew what it was.
I didn't even get to see this past week's episode. My Tivo taped it, but the local CW news had interrupted it for 50 minutes of a helicopter flying over an LA fire. How long do you need to fly over a fire saying, "Looks like it's spreading"? At least they will replay the episode tomorrow night.

I hear the final scene will be Luke, Rory and Lorelai in the diner and have it parrele the scene from the pilot of the three of them.
I think that is a really good way to go.
On the Paris note, I love Paris and I do think Rory and her have an odd friendship (Rory and Lane are far better friends) but Paris and Rory are great together. You forgot to mention how crazy Paris went with that redhead chic who was causing trouble - and the creampuffs?
