Just wondered if anyone is looking forward to this release?
I got into the TR games late but I love them.
Am looking forward to the re-engineered Lara engine from Legend being used and the advertising video showing game-play looks good, I just hope that the original story doesn't get messed around with too much.
Comments?

Comments? I'm a huge fan of TR and Lara since 1996. Legend disappointed me a bit because Crystal seem to miss the good old atmosphere, challenging environments and long games. But from what I've seen and read so far about TRA it looks like they fixed those problems. Vicks, have you played all the previous games? Which one did you like best?

Here's the entire media I've collected in BtVSFigs Forum: Tomb Raider Anniversary, a special celebratory video-game being developed by Crystal Dynamics to mark 10 years of Lara Croft. Tomb Raider Anniversary will release in 2007 for PC, PS2 and PSP. Inspired by the first Tomb Raider videogame, originally released in 1996, Tomb Raider Anniversary is a totally new 2006 adventure for Lara, faithfully preserving the elements which made the original Tomb Raider such a classic, selling over 7 million copies worldwide. Using an enhanced Tomb Raider Legend game engine, the graphics, technology, physics and engine bring Lara's adventure and pursuit of a mystical artifact known only as the Scion right up to today's technology standards and will offer gamers a completely new gameplay experience. Lior, I completely agree with you about Legend. Although Lara was "Wow" and the controls were great (I have played both Xbox versions) the game itself lacked heart. I though the back story with Lady Croft had great potential and who doesn't love a good myth with the Arthurian lore, but CD and Eidos seemed to lose their vision. The puzzles were repetitive and too easy, the baddies were easy to kill and boy was the game short. I'll always have a fondness for TR1 because it was new, and hey T-Rex and Atlantis, but I think TR2 might have it because there was that "jump" with the graphics and Lara herself was better. I think some of the later games started the downward spiral of TR going off the boil... What about your Lior? BTW how long did you last against the T-Rex the first time? I lasted all of 3 seconds! LOL.

God Im so excited about this game.
If you havent seen the btvsfigs.com thread about it you should def' check it out...although it seems lior has updated you with all the info.
Again I say a big thank you Lior for collecting all this information together for us lara croft fans. ;D
I loved legend but it seemed almost...hollywood-ish....it was an amazing game but lacked something...something which I think anniversary will have seeing as itll be all isolated like the original.
Cant wait!!

LOL. Very well put! ;D My favorite was TR4...I loved the epic story and the amazing length of the game (33 levels!) with great new additions (backtracking between levels, combining objects, new moves and so on). But so far none of the TR games ever let me down. Even Legend has lots of great moments. But of course TR1 is the top TR ever...I just finished replaying it (on PC) and even now days when I know how to complete those levels it took me 30 minutes at best to finish each level (and find all secrets) and I still managed to get scared of few enemies that tend to jump at Lara when you least expect...oh and those bloody mummies with their creepy moaning...grrr. ;D BTW, I don't remember how long I lasted against the T-Rex but I do remember seeing him, running away and quickly after getting chewed. I really hope TRA manages to capture these parts of TR1. Again I say a big thank you Lior for collecting all this information together for us lara croft fans. ;D No problem...glad to make my obsession useful. ;D

I have been mulling it over since I finished Legend on the 360 last week, I think I am going to install the TR games on my new PC and play them all again!
How does XP handle the older TR games anyone know? I do visit one site and there are several recommended patches and downloads for playing but any advice?
Or would it be easier to just buy them again via Amazon? Some of the CD packs say XP.
I get the whole pay homage to the original game but I am disappointed that PSP and PS2 are the only "console" versions. Its nice to play TR on a big TV and have your dad laugh at you when you kill Lara in one of a hundred spectacular ways, sitting in your bedroom playing on your own is not as much fun!
Do you think we are still on time for a May release?

Not a total fan of PS2 and I kind of wish it'd go on XBox (which is what I used for Legends) or even Gamecube. I may just end up getting the computer version, but I dunno, I love using the controler^^;

TombRaiderChronicles.com has all the needed XP patches including an Advanced Installer for TR1 + TR: Gold. All of these work pretty well on my PC. Just make sure you also change the "Comparability" mode to Win98/ME. So far end of May seems solid enough but who knows. I just hope we would finally get a demo in April.

Yes, I had been hoping for news of a demo... Darn, end of May will mean I'll be back at work. Noooo... All this time sat around now with nothing to do.

You can always replay TR 1-7 (including all the gold levels). I'm going to have to I think! Did you (this may be a daft question) play the Times stand alone level? I thought for a freebie it was quite cool. I am still in wonderment that I did all the time-trials etc on Legend. Nice extras on that costume wise but boy are the programmers mean, I wanted to see what Lara would be like running around Nepal in her white swimming costume. Muhaha... I settled on the Goth costume in the end which is equally as cool but wasn't as evil of me.

I settled on the Goth costume in the end which is equally as cool but wasn't as evil of me. I really liked the Times level. It was fan and cool to see new cut-scenes. BTW, have you played the Tutorial level that came with Level Editor (TR5 PC)? Apparently they say it's a "hidden" story of Lara escaping the collapsed Pyramid after TR4. The Time Trials were fun but after seeing on YouTube that PSP version had Tomb Trials instead (The idea is to get through random tombs with lots of traps) I wish we could get those instead. The outfits was a nice feature but I really didn't like the fact that they design 33 outfits as a rewards system - It's like playing a Barbi game when you are rewarded with cloths. They should've gave us more spacial features and made the outfits available at any time. BTW, there is a fan-made software called Legend SCU. With this program you can play any level you want with any outfit you choose (even the flashback classic outfit with classic backpack). All you need to do it to instead this program, put your Legend disc to your DVD driver and load this program with your settings (which level you want to play with which outfit) and that's it...you can go visit Nepal in bikini. ;D
