Up until this season, the Gilmore Girls was my favorite show. But as soon as the season started, the show had taken such a downturn, that I could barely tolerate it. I only kept watching it because I had loved it so much before.
But the last two episodes have been pretty good. They are much funnier than they were. It lookslike Luke and Lorelai will get back together. I actually didn't want them too, since he had treated her so badly last season. However, it looks like they are trying to write him so that he is changed and more willing to mix it up and have some fun with his life. I'm also very happy that his daughter April moved away. I could't stand her.
Lane's baby shower was pretty funny. I love that Sebastian Bach guy who's in her band. He's such a major, macho rocker in real life. It's quite ironic that he's on a show called "The Gilmore Girls."

XD I was going to start a GG thread after tuesdays episode, but forgot.
I am a fan of the series, I didn't start watching until last season. I caught the reruns on W network on YTV and began watching it on TheWB. I really enjoyed all the characters, Lane and Paris are my favorite.
This season has out right sucked. It has done the same thing as Veronica Mars. Unused cast and crappy story lines. Though I do lilke what they are doing to Logan. I HATED his character, but now I am starting to like him and I hope he and Rory stick together and I hope he dosn't fall out of a plane again v.v...
Anything with Lane and Mrs. Kim (god, she is the funniest thing on that show) are all right with me. Yet Lane is so under used, she had about 3 apperances this season, which sucks... I personally hate Kirk and think he is a waste of a main character...
I am glad to see lil miss Luke's Daughter gone... I really wasn't impressed with that story line. I am glad his sister and brother-in-law are in town, cause they always crack me up^^

I started watching this show when my local channel did weekends marathons of the first season (5 episodes in a row) and the clever dialogs really hooked me up. Now it's pretty much my comfort show (the only show that allows you to get attached to characters without fear of having them killed).
This season is a bit slow; I guess it's because the creators (the Palladinos) no longer in the pictures. But still it's quite a nice show...a great way to spend 45 minutes of my day.

It so is the only show that you don't have to worry about characters being shot or ripped apart... Hmm... I don't know what that says about the rest of TV then...

I was worried that Mr. Gilmore was going to die when he had his second heart attack a couple of weeks ago, but he seems OK now.
I agree that Paris is hilarious. I love her with Doyle (Danny Strong for you Buffy fans out there). They are such a funny couple. I loved when he hadn't called her a few years back and she though he was blowing her off, so she went to Stars Hollow. When she got back, he was in her bed with the flu, wanting her to take care of him. So she called her former nanny, because she hates sick people. "But you're pre-med!" he protested.
Then Rory came back and had the same conversation with Paris. "But you're pre-med!" Rory said. "Why does everyone keep saying that?"
LMAO. I love the show.
I actually adore Kirk. I think he's the funniest thing on there. I loved when he was doing the test run for the new red light camera in town and the flash blinded him, so he crashed into the diner. I think that was the funniest bit this season. Kirk selling the run down house was one of the best GG scenes, IMO. "Watch the cockroaches, but they'll die when we gas for the bats. Nothing we can't take care of." "There was a murder suicide. Nothing we can't handle." "The house has great bones. Literally. It was built on an Indian burial ground. Nothing we can't handle." So awesome.
I can't stand Emily, though, except when she's drunk. She's a hoot and a half when she's drunk. The episode where Mr. Gilmore's mom died and Emily found the letter the old lady had written about her, then dumped the funeral in Lorelai's lap to get drunk, well that's my favorite episode.
Suki to Emily: Where should I set up the buffet? Drunk Emily: Put it on the casket, then throw the cheese squares in there with her! Suki to Lorelai: I think she broke.
Man, Emily should always be drunk.
Mrs. Kim is funny too. I loved it this week when she got mad and told that lady that she couldn't buy the end tables anymore. Punish the customer. Good one.
The best was when Mrs. Kim's mom came for Lane's wedding and it turned out she was more dominating than Mrs. Kim is! And Mrs. Kim was hiding all her Christian stuff and pretending she was a Buddhist. It was fun to see Mrs. Kim cowed, but it was also awesome that Lane learned some insight into her mom's psyche.
I love all of Lorelai's bits. She's the funniest. I love her interactions with her dog, Paul Anka. Did you guys see the time she had the dream about Paul Anka and he was on the show acting the dream out with the dog Paul Anka? That was great.
I'm worried about Logan now. It seems like the business deal falling through and him losing the all that money will make him spiral out of control. He's heading out to party with Colin and Finn again. Trouble is brewing!

I am starting to like the show again.
Maria, the reason it has picked up again is the creators have gotten back involved. I saw that rebecca kirshner wrote the tuesday's episode. Without them, it seemed to lose it's footing.
But it is coming back.

Actually the show was created by Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino and they are still out of the picture (at least as far as writing and directing goes). Rebecca Rand Kirshner joined only during the 5th season and this season she wrote 5 out of 16 episode when the remaining episodes were written by 6 different writers. So she's pretty much the head writer so far.

I had read an article a while back where Amy Sherman-Palladino had said that she had the final Gilmore Girls scene all written out already, she just didn't know how long the show would go on. I'm sad that we'll never get to see Amy's vision of the final scene! It's like if Buffy had gone on without Joss at the helm, or even somewhere in the background. Raitings are way down this year. I hope the network takes that as a lesson about not renewing a creator's contract. Whatever is making the show better now, I hope they keep it up.

Amy Sherman-Palladino still is still credited as an executive producer during the guest star/writer/producer credits after the opening in act 1. So she must have SOME word in the series...
I kind of wish Rob Thomas would leave Veronica Mars (side bar) because I think is a bad creator, while the Palladino's were the only thing making GG interesting.

I kind of wish Rob Thomas would leave Veronica Mars (side bar) because I think is a bad creator, while the Palladino's were the only thing making GG interesting. It's hard to say. From the press reports I've been finding, it sounds like she's out entirely. However, executive producer credit could be part of her deal for creating the series. For instance, Sam Simon still gets credits and royalties on the Simpsons, even though he only worked on it for the first four years of the show and doesn't have a thing to do with this now. It would be interesting to know officially if she still has anything to do with it, because it really sounds from the press like she doesn't. This week's episode wasn't as funny as last week's. I was really bugged that they brought in an entirely different actress to play Mia. I mean, this lady didn't look, act, or sound ANYTHING like the other actress. The original Mia was cheerful and upbeat, but this new lady played her kind of down and depressed. It was also stupid that Mia would insist that Emily come to her wedding. I was so pissed at Rory for accepting the invitation while both Emily and Lorelai were saying no. Emily hates Mia. It was cruel to make her sit at the wedding. Rory is such a weird combination of arrogant and unconscious. I really haven't liked her character ever since she first slept with a married Dean. She isn't sweet anymore. I'm really psyched that Logan quit working for his dad. I think it will be fascinating to see him make it on his own in the world. It was his original instinct to not go to London and make his own way. I'm glad he's finally following it.

My one major issue with the episode was not seeing Lane give birth. I've been waiting all season cause with Mrs. Kim there at the hospital it would have been some of the funniest scenes ever! Mrs. Kim yelling at doctors and nurses, it would have been priceless.
The new Mia I disliked and I actually didn't get that it was the same character at first. That kind of angered me that they are wrecking the characters that we loved so much.

That's a good point. It could have been good with Mrs. Kim. Personally, I hate labor scenes because most shows do them and I think they've been done to death. But with the right writing, these characters could have brought a new spin to it.
I think that overall this show is good with continuity, but using a totally different actress who is nothing like the original character/actress insults the audience, I think. It always bugged me that they changed Kirk's name after the pilot episode and changed him from someone who didn't know anyone in town to someone who has known everyone in town since he was a child. But otherwise, the show is pretty decent with continuity.
Maybe the original actress for Mia couldn't appear, but whoever recast the role did a very crappy job.

From: www.tv.com/tracking/viewer.html?tid=99452&ref_id=44&ref_type=101I think TheCW will fight for GG since all their other shows seem to be ending this season. I really want GG to end and I just want the crappy episodes to go away. I'm tired of Rory and her love life... I want a more cast friendly series... Oh well... I hope Melissa McCarthy's series goes through. I like her and I think she is very funny.

I mean, it already ended in a way. I don't care that much if Alexis Bledel leaves the show. I'm sick of Rory. I don't like the way she's turned out. However, I think it would really be a too significantly different if Sookie left. She's so cute and funny. I love her hysterics, though her husband Jackson's hysterics bug me.

TheCW has this idea that their main target is teens... If they had Reba and Gilmore Girls on the same night (minus that thing named Rory) they could pull in a nice chunk of older viewers who enjoy the more mature comedy... I am sick of teen shows, i am a teen and I can't stand them!
