Pilgrim Father's landing in America... Giving thanks for arriving safely and the harvest also isn't there something about the Native American's helping them to farm and fish? Nowadays, to give thanks for the things that one has at the conclusion of the harvest season.

Pilgrim Father's landing in America... Giving thanks for arriving safely and the harvest also isn't there something about the Native American's helping them to farm and fish? Nowadays, to give thanks for the things that one has at the conclusion of the harvest season. Yes, reportedly the Pilgrims wouldn't have survived that first winter without the Native Americans giving them food and tips on how to survive. I'm always like Willow in "Pangs" thinking that they would have been better off if they'd let the Pilgrims starve to death. Americans really treated the Native Americans badly over the centuries. But now Americans eat an average of 4,500 calories on Thanksgiving Day. Then the next day tons of people go shopping on "Black Friday". It's named that because it's the day that traditionally retailers finally go into the "black" or start to show a profit. Most stores have really great deals, many opening at 4 AM. People flood the stores, some camp out overnight. It's a madhouse!

Buffy : With mom at aunt darlene's this year, I'm not getting a thanksgiving. Maybe it's just as well. Anya : Well, I think that's a shame. I love a ritual sacrifice. Buffy : It's not really a one of those. Anya : To commemorate a past event, you kill and eat an animal. It's a ritual sacrifice, with pie.
