I was watching Criminal Minds today and Dr Reid was reading a book at a very very quick rate. I take it that people with very High I.Q's can do this? He was just running his finger down the page and absorbing the information.

Sounds like a great skill! I know that a lot of people can speed read. It's a skill that can be learned. I'm sure that in a case like Dr. Reid's, he absorbs and remembers everything he sees/reads. BTW, I just love Dr. Reid! His informative facts are the highlight of the show for me, er, besides Shemar's everything. Damn, why can't we get some gratuitous shirtless Shemar scenes on CM the way we always get them of Tom Welling on Smallville? Sorry, somehow I drifted off topic.

You can actually teach yourself to speed read, essentially you look at the words at the start and end of the line on the page and the brain extrapolates the sense and information!
Its kind of like you can raed waht I hvae wtietrn hree eevn tohugh its is grbaeld as the brain can read the words as the first and last letters are in the right places.

I managed to read what you said in 'goobledecuck' Vicks! I can read fast but I dont always absorb the info.
Maria - I am sure we will get a Morgan scene when he has to unclothe. He is the only one with a fit body - so bide your time, I am sure it will happen! I love Dr Reid too, he is my fave character. Intelligence is a very cute quality

I'll bet they had Shemar's shirt off all the time back when he was on the soaps. I never saw him back then.
I can sort of speed read, but I imagine that Reid has the kind of superintelligence where he can remember everything he reads.

Reid does have a photographic memory, they mentioned it in Season 1.
I usually find if I try and speed read I miss the meaning. Like when I am really enjoying a Masterton novel and I want to see how Graham is going to tie it all up, I start to read faster when I do that I cannot remember a week later what happened and I also feel pretty disheartened with the book. But books I read at normal rate stay with me, I can tell you about Graham's books I read 5 years ago!

Something like The Bold and the Beautiful, or Days of our Lives? I can see him in something like that!
