lol, i thought that someone might ask that well this is the simple version: * Uncle got a job transfer from UK to Canada * Mum's sister thought that it might be a good diea to move too * Mum's parents (her mum is Canadian) so it was easy for them to come here.... they decided that they were going to move too! * Mum, me, dad and brother moved too, b/c we didn't want to be left there on our own with no family. So ya, that is my story

Since then, I've graduated and I am now in 1st of college. I went straight in -- no breaks no nothing. Its easier; trust me having time off and not studying and just messing around in the summer is great, but its not going to pay the bills when you're older I am taking Chemistry as my major, and i LOVE it. It is hard sometimes as this semester is learning new stuff and developing what we did last semester. 2nd year i have organic, physical chemistry and some others.... Not really too excited about the Organic but I'm going to read some background info on it before I start again after the summer. Organic chemistry is fantastic. You get to learn molecular shapes, naming the compounds, reaction mechanisms, do practical work, look at mass spectroscopy! Or you do over here anyway! I love the organic chemistry stuff!

lol ya i have people that I know in 2nd yr and they said that its not hard just confusing sometimes. They also mentioned all of what you listed lol. My teachers have warned all of us saying that we have to understand it, and not just memorize it lol... well it looks like I will be giving you a shout to write my tests then

Basically, once you learn the basics you follow on. You'll probably begin with organic structures and simple names. Learn the simple rules and you'll be fine! Its 10 years since I learned: Liner 180 degrees e.g. CO 2Trigonal Planer 120 degrees e.g. BF 3Tetrahedral 90 degrees e.g. CH 4 etc etc Feel free to call on me anytime!

So how embarrassing is this, over here we don't call them Lewis structures, we call them, drum roll please...
dot-cross diagrams!
How beyond daft is that? But yeah, I get what you mean!

lmao, i used to get so confused last semester. Now i get when and why the dots go here and there LMAO! My Year 10 kids (14/15) just cannot get it, it's like I am talking in an Alien language. I look out and see a sea of glazed eyes looking back. We have these traffic light cards (one red, amber and green) for student's to use to demonstrate their learning. It is so disheartening to play spot the green card in a sea of red, speckled with amber. Red being I don't get it at all and am lost, amber being I get it a little and green being carry on I got it all.

In my science GCSE exam I flicked through about 5-6 pages as I didnt understand any of the questions! I remember one was catalytic converters! Whats that gotta do with science? Vicks will probably tell me.....
In Science I copied off the boy who sat next to me and he copied off another lad, hence the double 'E' in Science!
In maths I was in the top class - I do not know why? I hated maths even when I was in junior school. Me and a friend used to sit at the back and eat crisps and chocolate. We used to copy off the two boys infront of us. When I asked the teacher what trigonmetry (sp?) and (what is it called when you add a to b, and all of that?) he just said it has to do with logic and sequence. He also said that trigonometry would be useful if i wanted to be an architect! Hence the 'E' in Maths.
Thank god I did good in my other subjects!

Don't even get me started on Chemistry. This super hot football player and I used to miss the test days, then make up the test after school. When the teacher would leave us alone in the room together and we'd get the answers we didn't know from the book.
I never cheated on anything in college, but I don't regret cheating in Chemistry. I hated it. It never applied to my life and I think it sucks that I was forced to go through it. I'd sure hate to have to take Chemistry again.
