OK, I know that a lot of people don't like New Year's resolutions, because they know they will always break them.
However, I love the idea of a fresh start and having hope and the impetus to change the things I want to change about myself.
I usually make New Year's resolutions. Even if I break them, it helps me keep trying to go in a better direction.
I think of New Year's as a time for recommitting to my main personal goals.
So this year my goals/resolutions are:
1) Exercise more! This is the age old one, but I'm heavier than I've ever been in my whole life. I had a couple of injuries during my move and wasn't able to exercise for a couple of months. Then the cold weather hit and I got really lazy. I've only been exercising like once a week lately. My resolution is to exercise four times a week for at least a half hour.
2) Get organized. I've spent the last couple of days going through old papers. My husband hired a professional organzier on Friday to help him build shelves and organize our office. I want to go through the rest of my paperwork in the next few days.
3) Finish some financial paperwork I've been putting off.
4) Finish writing our new relationship book. We just finished our first draft, so we just have to do a couple of edits to be done.
5) Get a new counseling job to finish my requirements for my therapy license.
WHAT ARE YOUR RESOLUTIONS/GOALS FOR THE COMING YEAR?

I haven't really made any big ones yet, but one is to stop being so shy.

I haven't really made any big ones yet, but one is to stop being so shy. That's a really good one. I used to be super shy, which people never believe now, because I'm almost too outgoing now. One of the things that helped me was back in college I made a goal to ask at least one question or make one comment in every class. At first, I'd have to write it down, so I wouldn't forget it, because I'd get so flustered when the whole class was looking at me. But over time, I got more confident and enjoyed talking in class. Talking in groups is what freaked me out the most. Later, I took an improv class, which was fun too. Now people can't shut me up. Good luck with your goal!

Break ups are painful, no matter which side of it you're on.

Well, so far I've exercise twice this week, so I'm pretty psyched about that. I try to celebrate every little victory to keep my motivation up. Today I excercised for an hour and Sunday it was a half hour. So far, so good!
Plus, I haven't had any caffiene since last week, so I'm proud of that too. I really itched for some yesterday and Sunday, but I stayed strong. I'm not good at staying strong, so I'm proud that I've done it so far.

Well done on the exercise!! Keep it up!!
I started exercising properly about a month ago and I found that eventually I actually quite enjoyed it! I HATE the gym with a passion as it is just fool of posers that I either end up laughing at as they stare at themselves in the mirror or just send them a dirty look now and then lol.
Instead I go for runs in the woods and stuff...its so pretty so I actually look forward to it.
How are you exercising if you dont mind me asking?

Just brisk walks. I used to run before I had a car accident. Now I have knee problems and can't run. But I can walk briskly. I preferred the intense enodrphin rush and fast weight loss of running. I wish I could! I think that if I had knee surgery, I probably could again. One of my knees has excess cartiledge, so I'd have to get it suctioned out.
My brother's a doctor and he told me that walking is suposed to be as good for you as running, but easier on the joints.
Still, I wish I could still run.
But I always lose weight and get my endorphin rush from brisk walks, as long as I do it regularly.

My new year's resolution is to lose weight, that seems like the most popular one out there. It's been the same resolution year after year with me, but this year I'm going to definitely take it seriously. I put on a little too much weight for the past year and a half and I want to make it a point to get rid of it before it becomes more of an issue.
I hate the gym as well, so obviously I don't go there. I have some hand weights, a stationary bike, and I go for walks. I hate the bike though, it's too loud and irritating, so I prefer walks. So far I've taken 1 walk (the sidewalks were slippery today so I couldn't go for one), sit-ups, used the hand weights, and have done a few leg exercises. Boy can I ever feel it today though, lol. My abs, legs, and upper arms are a little sore, but I'm still going to do everything again tonight yet.
I've also been trying to cut down on drinking soda. I have one more can left and then I'm not going to buy anymore for a long time. After that one's gone I'll go back to drinking only Propel (it's a fitness water with vitamins).

personally I hate new year's resolutions since they never seem to work for me, I guess thats based on my lack of self-control and willpower if I would have any after all it would be: more exercises (I too gained some weight *grr*), quit smoking but I wish you guys good luck !!!

Yes, you quit smoking! That's a HUGE goal you've gone after. How's that going? Are the craving lessened now?
