Can anyone remember this game show? I'm fairly sure it was purely a British thing, but it may have been broadcast elsewhere or we may have nicked the idea from another country. Who knows. Anyway, I hadn't seen this for years (I think I was just a little kid when it was originally on television), but was at the Grandparents house just before Christmas, and decided to save myself from dying of boredom by watching the TV. I happened upon the Challenge channel, which I usually rarely watch. After an hour of Takeshi's Castle, (always great entertainment ) Gladiators was on. So I watched. It was interesting for what it was, and quite entertaining, despite a little repetitive. I wonder why they ever took it off the air, since as far as game shows go, it was quite original. So, can anyone else remember it? What did you all think?

Another one I grew up with. I loved Cobra and Wolf. Yes, it was crappy, yes John Fashanu and Ulrika Johnson were annoying (an in Ulrika's case screwing all the male Gladiators in sight) but it was so bad it was good. Come to think of it, all the crappy TV that was on in the late 80's an early 90's might explain a thing or two about th current 20-30 year old generation's craziness!
Ouija, we nicked the idea off the Americans - but the US version was harder, grittier an the Gladiators hit back. They give us Gladiators, we gave them the Weakest Link and Anne Robinson. Poor devils...

Was your Gladiators the same as our Gladiators. Zap, Pyro, Siren (the deaf one), etc. getting in hamster balls. getting shot with tennis balls etc? normal people vs. steriod freaks in stupid events?
Oh and on SpikeTV, they cut and edit Takeshi's Castle with some of the funniest overdub and call it MXC. I've seen Takeshi's Castle and as funny as it is, letting these guys overdub it makes it even better.

In a nut shell! ;D We had an old man (seriously) playing Wolf, Cobra, Hunter, Saracen, Hawk, Rhino, Warrior, and a few others were the men, the women were Jet, Amazon, Nightshade, Panther, Phoenix, Scorpio etc. There was indeed Astrospheres (the over-sized hamster balls), slingshot (indoor bungee jumping from floor to ceiling), hang tough with hoops, and several where tennis balls were aimed. And let's not forget the Eliminator consisting of a crappy treadmill!

OMG! I remember this show! I can't believe others watched it. It was pretty addicting, like a car accident. You shouldn't look at it but can't turn your head away.
