I've got hooked up only by the end of second season. I caught up thanks to season 1 DVDs and downloadable episodes of season 2, and been a fan of the show till the final episode last year.
Anybody else shares my passion to this show?

Yes!
Season 1 and 2 were phenomenal! Syd and Michael getting together was perfect. Then the season 2 finale, how good was that!
Season 3 and 4 IMO went down hill fast. I certainly did not like the S4 one episode one story idea, seasons 1 and 2 were so good because they were multi-episode story arcs.
I get the impression that as JJ became more involved with Lost, Alias became less of a focus and his baby. I can see a similar trend with Lost too!
I haven't seen Season 5 yet though...

I agree, first 2 season are amazing. Season 3 is very weak and season 4 is slightly better. Season 5 is a bit better than 4, IMO...but the finale was season 1-2 metirial...great way to finish the show.

I really like Alias. I have not seen the end of season 5...I've seen about half of it, but my Mom JUST got it for Christmas so I will borrow it from her and finnish it off. I've really enjoyed the show, and if the Finale is as good as Lior says then I look forward to it. Anyway, a show can't get worse after you add Amy Acker to it, imo she gold

For the pilot ep, ABC aired the entire show without ads and I noticed that Victor Garber also starred in it, so those two things were a big draw for me.
I fell in love with the whole spy aspect of the show, all the secret codes and high tech gadgets. There was one scene where Will had to take a test for Vaughn to see if he could work for the CIA. Will went to a post office and the back room was a CIA office. Kind of makes me wonder just how the CIA works since so little knowledge is given to the public. My favorite story line has always been the Rambaldi artifact hunting and the introduction of Nadia into the "family." I still have to catch up with the last season. That whole time slot changed threw me off.

Eva, rent season 5 DVDs and just watch it as closely as possible. There are only 17 episodes (because JG has her baby in mid-season, the couldn't shoot new episodes for 3 months so they had to cut back on 5 episodes to make sure the finale airs on time). So it won't take to long. Adam, you should definitely do that, the final season isn't brilliant but pretty good. Especially for the final 8-9 episodes. ;D

I was thinking about renting this show. Would you recommend starting with Season one and working sequentially through it? Or is there a better way to go?
Thanks.

Start with the begining...nearly every episode in season 1+2 ends with a cliffhanger that resolved in the next episode...so those two seasons are quite the ride.

Just to warn you Drufan, there are a lot of names to keep track of. I had a friend who used to watch with the subtitles on so she could remember the names. But it's a real fun show and I think having a complete season will be much more fun watching instead of waiting week after week for the next one.
Enjoy!

Definitely from Season 1 as suggested, make sure your schedule is clear you will not want to eat/sleep/move apart from to change DVDs, as Lior said seasons 1 and 2 are quite the ride!
You are going to have so much fun!

Once I understood that Alias is a fantasy show and not a "spy show", I really really REALLY liked it. The first two seasons are back to back marathon watchers. Season 3 convoluted the overall story and then Garner's neurosises threw a wrench in the project getting back into line. That being said, overall from start to finish, it's a pretty good series.
