Artist trading cards (ATCs) are miniature pieces of art that are traded around the world. Artists create, trade and collect art at organized "swap" events, either in person or on-line.
The only official rule for ATCs is the size: 2.5" x 3.5".
There are some artists who choose to sell cards. Cards that are sold are called Art Card Editions or Originals (ACEO)
Recently I decided to try my hand at another type of art form...
Artist sketch cards or (ATCs...Artist Trading cards) is not something I really ever given any thought at doing. I of course have seen them around but never really grasped their concept.
Recently someone I was speaking to on-line suggested that I give them a try...she also said that some collector's love collecting the cards and that the creative possibilities are endless...I did some research on the subject and found this definition...
well since I am always up for a new creative challenge I decided to give it a go.
Here are my first 2 attempts at this new art form
For my first attempt I chose a subject that I am familiar with
a portrait of Misha Collins as Castiel from "Supernatural"
The card is drawn with prismacolor color pencils on Stonehenge paper...the size is 2.5" x 3.5"
(This is approximately the actual size of the card)
For my second attempt I chose Jonas Armstrong as Robin Hood from the BBC series "Robin Hood"
The card is drawn with prismacolor color pencils on 2.5" x 3.5" Illustration board
(approximately actual size)
as always i appreciate constructive comments and feedback so please let me know what you think.
I am also considering doing a whole series of these cards and I am interested to know if it is something that everyone would be interested in...so your feedback would be greatly appreciated ;D
