Demon-Hunting Brothers Captured (in Resin)
CINEQUEST.COM JOINS THE WINCHESTER BROTHERS’ CRUSADE AGAINST THE COMING APOCALYPSE!
SALEM, NH (Sept. 1, 2007) – CineQuest.com and Warner Bros. Consumer Products have joined forces to give fans the creeps – in the form of minibusts and figures based on the hit CW show Supernatural!
CineQuest.com has been awarded the license to produce minibusts and 12” figures based on the characters in the hit CW series that begins its third season October 4. The minibusts will be released, beginning in the first quarter of 2008, in waves of two, with each wave consisting of one major character and one demon or monster.
“We’re big followers of the Winchester family adventures and feel we can add something to growing world of collectibles celebrating the great story line and fascinating family at the center of Supernatural,” said Mark Del Vecchio, president of CineQuest.com. “Sam and Dean are great characters and the mythology of the program is compelling,” he said.
New Hampshire-based CineQuest.com, a long-time internet retailer, also is producing collectibles for another great CW show, Veronica Mars, which will not be returning to The CW schedule this fall for a fourth season.
The first wave of Supernatural minibusts will feature Dean Winchester, as portrayed by former Smallville actor Jensen Ackles, from the episode “Wendigo” and The Scarecrow from the episode “Scarecrow.” The second wave will be released in March/April and the third in July at the 2008 San Diego Comic-Con. The minibusts will be about 6.5” tall, feature a waist-up snapshot of the character and come packaged in a four-color box.
Del Vecchio said CineQuest.com is working closely with the sculptors at Atomic Monkey to produce a series of “captured moments” from the series rather than a static portrait of a character or monster.
“The Dean Winchester minibust captures his fear and bravado as he leads the Wendigo, away from his brother and other potential victims,” he said. “We want collectors and fans to look at it and feel that moment with the character.”
With the third season set to debut October 4, Supernatural will surely ensnare the souls of more fans this season.
“There’s an excitement around this show and its fans that we haven’t seen since Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” Del Vecchio said. “It would take you days to go through all the fan sites, forums and tributes to the Winchester boys on the internet. People love this show and love Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki.”
Del Vecchio said that CineQuest.com is in discussion with a number of possible exclusive holders for Supernatural minibusts and will announce variants as deals are completed.
