Just arrived back from the Winter Memorabilia show.
Bad points: no virtual ticket queuing, chaos queuing in place. Also, previously you could grab a photo with some guests when they signed your stuff. Now, you can photograph the guest when they sign your pic or item, but if you want a photo with them there is now £10 charge to lean over the table to be pictured with the guest. Major bummer when this used to be free.
Offering an early bird ticket for 9 am and then some guests don't arrive until 10? WTF? A really great idea with no queuing tickets.
Also some guests now can only be met if you buy an item from their stall to be signed and no personal items. E.g. Chris Barrie, only had Red Dwarf or Rimmer pictures, so as I wanted a picture from Tomb Raider no photo available so I didn't bother. A few guests were doing that.
Good points: Show is open floor as normal and all but the first 2 aisles are wide to accommodate the crowds.
Goodies: Not many Buffy figures for sale, Dr Who merchandise was over priced (£12 for a £6.99 action figure!) but some bargains.
Stars: Well, I got to meet: Greg Grunberg (twice as I went back), John Schneider, and John Vulich (Buffy).
Greg Grunberg
Awwwww, the guy was so sweet! He arrived early and saw his queue and he didn't realise it was for him. So he said morning to us all queuing and then said: "I just though, 'Wow, someone has a great queue, cool.' and its mine, thank you so much".
Whilst queuing, I tried to snap Greg and he saw me doing so, so he did this. Bless! :
I was about 7th in the queue. I got to him and paid for a photo with him. Signing the pictures he was a little rushed, but for the photo, I walked around his table and cuddled him. Greg was lovely, friendly and smelt great! LOL! I gave him a Christmas card with the TViLike card in it inviting him to here and wished him a Merry Christmas. He gushed over the card and called me sweet.
We left Greg and I went and met John, but as browsing for goodies later, found a super picture of Greg so I went and re-queued to get it signed. ;D
John Schneider
Oh, my GOD! The man is totally gorgeous in real life and so hot! I was at the front of his queue as he was a 10am start.
He is the first guest who stood up all the time, he was super-friendly and just great. I purchased a posed photo off him too for £10 and he gave me a massive cuddle. He was so nice.
John was doing photo-shoots with "General Lee" later on today but too late for me to stay!
John Vulich
John was a late guest addition. He played Moloch, Der Kindestod and a few other Buffy baddies. The chap was incredible. He walked around to come and cuddle me and get a photo with me and on his own (he didn't charge for a posed picture - good man!).
Goodies
A few things I cannot mention as they are Christmas prezzies for some boardies! But, a Superman shield belt ;D, Angel autos: Amy Acker S5, Charisma Carpenter S2 and Juliet Landau S2 autos, three for £125! (Steal! ), comics, Christian Kane auto for £40, Heroes calendar and some Heroes pictures of which in future I will get signed. Should have gone and got Greg to sign them again but a) spent all of m money, b) spent all of mom's money and c) didn't want to queue again!
All in all a FAB day! ;D
Since I gave Greg a TVi invite and a card for the Heroes cast/crew and John Schneider one, fingers crossed they join!
