Right well originally this was for the Christmas fan fic challenge but that never really happened and I just remembered I had this so I thought Id post it.
Its not meant to be serious...its just a bit of a silly Christmas fan fic involving Giles during his days in season 6 when he was off moseying around England and god knows where else.
Enjoy
Their footsteps were clambering amongst the darkness, giving their positions away and revealing how close or far away they were.
Giles didn’t know exactly who or what they were but just that they were after what he had just stolen from them.
The cellar had practically no air and he gasped breathlessly as he tripped over a bottom step, a hint showing him he had reached a possible escape. He heard the groans of the ladder he had just climbed up as the creatures relentlessly pursued him. It had led him into this dank cellar which was a vast improvement to the hellish world which was contained beneath it. He continued to chase the darkness up the steps as he hoped for a door which would lead him out into the manor which this cellar was situated beneath.
Giles’ foot reach out for the next step but when it sailed through the air for an extra few seconds he realized he had reached the top. He threw his full body weight against what he assumed was where the door would be and luckily it flew open, hinges moaning and causing dust and stone to crumble away free from the wall.
Moon light pierced his eyes, light he had so longed for in the past few minutes during his quick escape from that Underworld city. Huge glass windows lined the huge hallway, curtains un-pulled letting the blissful moon light pool upon the floor, and letting Giles actually view the giant room.
His happiness was cut short as the artifact in his hand began to vibrate.
Damn it….Robson warned me about this!
He panicked, remembering back to the information he had been given about the bad reaction the artifact would have if stolen and put in stressful situations. He heard the foot steps of the creatures racing up the cellar steps, only adding to his dismay. The moon light only revealed the top two steps so he could not see what had been chasing him but he knew it would be the acolytites of who ever ruled that city now miles beneath his feet.
His eyes became transfixed on the large double front doors. Knowing this was his only way out Giles leapt forward just as the corner of his eye registered a figure appear at the top of the cellars steps.
Damn-it!!
Reacting to the sudden increase in stress the artifact sprung to life, vibrating mercilessly and emitting an almost blinding light. The beam struck out and clashed with the front doors. A green textured surface quickly spread across the nearest exit, sealing the doors together. Within a few seconds it was clear that the doors had been covered in thick foliage. Foliage that in actual fact resembled holly.
Giles gave up on his first escape plan and knew he would have to find another way out. He heard the loud war cries of the creatures behind him and as he spun around in pure terror. His new toy reacted once again and incased the room with light. Giles’ vision returned and the demons had been transformed into a huge array of traditional toys!
Giles’ eyes creased as a smiled formed upon his face, which disappeared as the first of the toys began to move. Soon enough they were all active, and continued to move towards him.
Toy robots began to charge up their lasers as slinkys started to wind their way towards him ready to whip his ankles from underneath him.
Toys or not they were still a danger.
This was re-enforced when he noticed a large wooden rocking horse speed towards him. The former Watcher dived for the sweeping staircase and took two steps at a time as he hurled himself to the top, dodging more attacks from the crazy creations below him. He felt his hand vibrate again and this time numerous beams seemed to jut out and hit various objects. More doors were coated in holly, blocking his exits and a chest of draws transformed into giant Christmas tree, complete with deadly decorations who took any chance to attack him. The Christmas lights burst out quick energy beams and the tinsel seemed to have a life of its own, uncurling from the tree and slithering towards him like a group of pythons.
A sofa was the only object left untainted by the artifact and an idea sprung into Giles’ mind. He pictured it in his head and filled himself with a sense of fear, not that that was hard seeing as he was being attacked by almost every Christmas related object he could think of.
Sure enough, the usual light escaped and hit the sofa, turning it into Giles' only escape plan.
A gleaming carriage sat in front of him, complete with reindeers who yapped their unusually large and sharp teeth at him. Not the friendly reindeers he had imagined but they would fly him away as long as he stayed in enough distance so they couldn’t tear him apart.
Giles kicked a piece of tinsel away that had slithered dangerously close and leapt into the carriage.
He grabbed the reins and with one fail lash of them, the reindeers took off, heading towards the large glass windows. Giles braced himself, knowing the reindeers would take the brunt of the impact but still worrying about getting cut by hurdling shards of glass.
With a crash the windows gave way, sending pieces of glass flying through the air and slicing anything in their path.
He heard the groan and bleeps of numerous toys as they were cut down to pieces, the moaning of the Christmas tree as he was attacked by yet more pieces.
Within seconds Giles breathed in the outside air and was filled with a feeling of achievement. He looked down at his stolen artifact and smiled. The red satin gleamed in the moon light and the white bobble top bobbed in the furious winds.
Giles let out a satisfactory sigh and popped the artifact, otherwise known as Father Christmas’ hat on his head.
“A job well done.”
He laughed to himself as he sailed through the night sky; his watch bleeping to announce the time of Mid-night, another two words escaped his lips as he realized what day it now was.
“Merry Christmas!”
Thanks for reading....comments critiques welcome...I know no one really reads any of the fan fics on here so I made it nice and short so its easily accessible.
