Oh, Shep I can so totally relate to what you went through. Same story here when I was about the same age!! Took me a little longer to break free. But, what doesn't kill us makes us stronger!
I'm really happy to say I've developed many great friendships here on the forum board (Becky, Prophecy Girl, Jess, GirlPower, Illyrobin, Kal-El, ). Hope I'm not forgetting someone. I'm lucky that there are so many. But, I'm probably closest to Scotty (wyatt 309). I admired his art work for a long time and always posted comments about his work. Then one day out of the blue, he PMed me to ask my opinion of a work in progress. I was just floored that he would think that I had some insight to offer him about his work. And since then, our friendship has just taken off. He is just a sweetheart- fun, funny with an irreverent sense of humor, kind, caring and a southern gentlemen to boot. I could go on and on gushing about him... I just wish he lived closer to me- cause we would be hanging out all the time!
What quality to you most admire in someone here on the board and why (feel free to share who that person is)?

Angel. I know it wouldn't have had a leg to stand on without the mass of fans that accumulated because of Buffy, but I like the humour on it more, and it's darker. Especially season 1. Which I like. Plus it has Fred - something Buffy never had. Next: If you were granted three wishes, what would they be? ('World Peace' is a gimme, be original )

i have to say there are 2 people on here - girl power - i love that she is caring, diplomatic, subjective and thoughtful. Diplomatic and subjective. Please!!! Call my family and tell them that. They think I'm an opinionated big mouth. I have been working hard on the diplomatic thing. I'm so happy someone noticed. I deeply appreciate all the kind words. You don't know how much I need to hear that this week. It's been a hard one. Which leads me to the question: Next: If you were granted three wishes, what would they be? ('World Peace' is a gimme, be original ) 1. Inner Peace -- been working on this one for over 15 years, with varying degrees of success. But the last couple of years have been tough. 2. To have my grandfather alive again. My world is a worse place without him in it. 3. For child molesters to receive automatic life sentences. Next: What's your favorite arc from Buffy or Angel?

The Faith arc after her coma. I thought that arc pushed characters limits to the extreme and it was interesting to see reactions from the characters when everything they thought was solid was thrown out the window, from Riley's "affair" to Wesley's since of fairness. That arc more than any other left the most damage to the most people.

I don't really dance, unless you put the Blues Brothers on. I can "Elwood" with the best of them. Next: Who would you cast to play you in the film about your life?

What is the defining moment of your life?

Oh, Maria - you ask the tough questions. I think the defining moment in my life just came recently, when I lost my mom after a long and courageous battle with cancer. I was her caregiver, until we needed outside help. It certainly is the most profound experience of my life- it's changed the way I look at my life and how I spend the remainder of it. So, in that way it has helped me better define what I want and don't want in my life-therefore, it's a defining moment for me.
A little ligher question- Which Buffy or Angel character is your personality closest to and why?

I know that was a huge ordeal, Sharon. Again, I'm so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine how I will handle it when my mom passes away. She's really my best girl friend. But to watch your mom go through something so long and difficult is really painful.
"A little lighter question- Which Buffy or Angel character is your personality closest to and why?"
This one is hard for me to answer because I think I relate to a lot of the characters.
I think I have Willow and Xander's dorkiness. I'm quite likely to do something like the Snoopy dance.
Cordelia's directness and the later Cordelia's supportiveness.
Buffy's desire to do the right thing and tendency to feel like life is hard.

My favourite show EVER is a hard one.
16 years worth of shows.... hmm. Well the ones from when I was younger were undoubtedly cheesey, and the ones these days I have a hard time finding enjoyable. What with so much reality TV, and less original concepts, it's hard to find a decent show, IMO. I think good TV officially ended in 2003. That seems to be when most of my favourite shows were cancelled.
I think, as far as things like Buffy and Angel go, they are enjoyable. They do have very cheesey elements to them, though. But is there any show that doesn't? Dead Like Me is my favourite show of late, I just find it so damn hilarious. But it's got no closure, and very little plot twists to it. Charmed, I won't deny it, I watched for Rose McGowan. When it finished, I haven't watched an episode since or even really thought about the show. But that got really poor quality near the end. Firefly was good, but too short to make any real conclusions. I could criticise hundreds more shows, but i'll stop here before the rambling goes too far.
So it's a hard decision, but I'm going to go with Angel. I think Buffy and Angel have been my favourite shows for the longest period of time, and I ultimately find Angel a better view than Buffy.
