How weird and that is really really sad - to mutilate yourself like that. There are people out there who have scars from accidents etc.... and they have to cope with the not only the physical side of it but the psychological as well. That girl needs a punch in the face as far as I am concerned! Silly cow P.S Trust you to find this Gerry! I would have thought it would have been on rotten.com

its like branding, a natural way to beautify your body Many African-American fraternities at universities and colleges do brand their members. Literally, it's a brand like they use on livestock. Not really they same since the scare tissue bubbles up and there is no nice red color like her's. The process looks really painful. I'm not one for blood. But the end product is really nice looking. I wonder where the man who did this learned it from. Must be an old tribal practice to mark their members.

This looks... well, painfull to say the least. Are you sure it's real? I mean.. she seems to just be talking and drinking while it happens.. (let's hope for her it was booze).

That makes me sad to hear, especially when you consider that southern slave owners used to brand their African American slaves. What a horrific legacy to perpetuate. It's tragic to me the extreme abuse people will put up with to belong.

I saw this before I like it its like branding, a natural way to beautify your body Really, Christina? Really? There's nothing wrong with it. If the girl wanted to have it done, then it's her body. All of us are unique and different in our own ways. She wanted a picture on her body from scare tissue, then that's her business. It doesn't make her a horrible person.

In my books it makes her very 'weird'. Why mutilate yourself so that you can be unique? strange. I just hope she doesnt regret it in years to come.
Tattoos and peircings I can understand (I dont have any tats by the way and I dont intend to get any) but this its scar tissue, some people go through counselling and psychological trauma because they have to have major surgery resulting in scar tissue. I know their tissue doesnt end up looking like a tree but I dont get it at all.
But as you say ESC its her body, I just hope it doesnt become a trend

She wanted a picture on her body from scare tissue, then that's her business. It doesn't make her a horrible person. I didn't say she was a horrible person, Eva. I didn't even imply that. Of course, everyone has a right to do what they want with their own body. However, I don't think it's odd to be surprised by self-mutilation. In fact, it's usually designed for shock value from others. Self-mutilations, unless it's a culturally sanctioned practice, are recognized by people in the psychology field as indicative of deeper emotional issues. That does not mean I think someone is a "horrible person."

but getting your ear pierced is self-mutilation too IMO or your tongue or whatever I had some piercings and I always felt they are unnatural so I decided not to wear them anymore same goes for other jewelry, I barely wear any but for some reason the tattoos and my branding feels natural to me the branding also was a kind of self-conquest for me since I had to defeat the fear of the pain to me it don't makes a difference if you wear make-up, earrings, jewelry, tattoos, piercing, if you dye your hair, or the way someone dresses, its all the same its a way to express yourself it tells the story of your life
I also love the traditional tattooing of the Hawaiian and the Maori
