OK, if you could make anything different in the world, and not for personal gain, but in terms of people acting differently, or certain laws, what would you want to change in this world? It can be in your own country, or the world in general.

I would go against your word... and make every girl be mermaids. Id make Kirsten Dunst marry me, and be ok with the fact that I will have babies with Bridget. I will make Dane Cook my private court jester, telling me jokes whenever I please. I would make my family work in a sweatfactory and sell cheap Gucci look alike wallets. I will make everyone on earth watch Buffy and The Little mermaid religiously. Everyone must do what I tell them to do unless you are one of the Following names
Austin Maria Eva Pedro Christina Hugh Hefner Sarah Michelle Gellar Bridget Marquardt Holly Madison

This is so cynical, but i would make people feel whatever they do to other people. So in terms of pain, suffering, distress, etc etc.. I think it would eleviate (sp?) a lot of suffering and pain. Example - someone who shop lifts, then feels how it felt to the store owner. Someone who beats someone up, etc. Maybe it would make people understand what they do to others and the repercussions.
I dunno, yes? no? lol

Mike, you're such a rebel. They were simple directions, boy.
Spikerific, I love yours. According to people remember what happened when they died and were resuscitated, that's exactly what they feel when they go to the light and have their life review. They have to see their whole life, but feeling what the other people felt.
Scary, huh? It's justice, but it doesn't take back what they've done to others.
It would be better if it were like you said and they could feel what the other people felt now. It would keep them from hurting others. That's brilliant!

i too believe in justice, and the crime fitting the punishment.
i just wish people would get on with others, love thy neighbour, people to be less selfish, people to be less envious.
i hate drug dealers - death to all drug dealers! they cause so much misery. the addicts lie, steal and cheat to family and friends to get a fix. sharing needles causes transmission of HIV and hepatitus etc... the national health service hasnt the funds to rehabilitate those who want help.
im on a roll!
i hate women that use abortion as a contraceptive. after 2 abortions you would think they would learn their lesson - sterilise them!
i hate people who commit benefit fraud, i go to work and work hard so some people can claim benefits that they are noit entitled too!
do you think the world in general is more violent? or is it because we are more aware of it with the media etc...?
the world was going to be quite different in 'angel' with jasmine, and in 'charmed' with the avatars, but at a price. (not really relevant but thought i would mention it)

I would create a Jackass law.
If three or more people see you "pull a jackass manuever,"
(e.g. Swerving from lane to lane because you are on the phone or putting on makeup, taking calls in a movie theatre, using the 10 item or less lane with a full cart of groceries, cancelling Firefly, etc.)
you get a "jackass" ticket. You get three tickets, you are entered into a parade wearing only a diaper and people on the sidelines throw expired produce at you. At the end of the parade, the offender has to clean the parade route up. At six, the offenders entire body is shaved, and is forced to wear and itchy wool bodysuit and ball and chain for a month. After nine, the offender is thrown a nice party for all your friends and family to say goodbye. All assesets are then seized and donating to charity. The offender is then banished to a small Pacific Island where they have to try and survive with other "jackasses."
Also, I would want to somehow like to turn religion back into a spiritual thing rather than an excuse to hate and kill. that would be nice too.

I am in agreement with a few of the aforementioned... I'd have to go with: women and men would understand each other and say what they mean, failing that men would come with a fully consultable handbook so women know what you are thinking cos guys you can be so confusing! Also, people in general would say what they mean and be freakin' honest instead of playing games! (Anybody guess I have an issue at the moment? )

Oh my gosh! These are all so great! I love them. Brilliant.
Madvicks, I'm right there with the say what you mean rule. I hate when people are two-faced or passive aggressive. I've had the exact same problem. I'm a very "what you see is what you get" type of person. If anything, I'd say I'm too open. I'm extremely direct as well.
I've had situations where I continually felt something was off and asked the person if there were upset and to please tell me if they had a problem with me, and they said it was fine and there was no problem. Then found out they were talking about me behind my back from months! Totally mad at me. What's that crap about? With one girl I just told her she was a liar and I'd never trust her again.
What is the deal with people acting like that? I don't get it. But it's nice to know that I'm not the only one who has had that problem.
I think that most things can be talked through if people can understand each other and give each other a break. But if someone isn't honest, it just causes pain and betrayal.

(not really relevant but thought i would mention it) We're having less and less problems with welfare fraud in the US, because it's gotten so hard to get state assistance. Because of legislation signed by Bill Clinton, you can only be on welfare if you are a very impoverished parent, and only for 5 years maximum in your whole life, no matter how many children you have in the future. It's also very hard to get on disability now. Everyone is turned down the first time, even if they are severely disabled. The appeals process is lengthy and takes a large burden of proof. You pretty much need a good lawyer and lots of evidence of disability. It's sad for the disabled, but it keeps random people or even depressed people from getting on it. I understand your feelings about drug dealers and addicts. I think that the problem is deeper than the dealers, though. There will always be people to provide the supply. In some ways, I think that anyone who is dumb enough to do drugs gets what they deserve. Everyone knows that drugs only dull the pain temporarily, but they destroy your brain and easily take over your life. I've counseled enough drug addicts to know that they all lie and minimize their drug use. I really have no time for people who create their own problems like that. Life's hard enough without doing drugs to make it harder. On your idea to sterilize anyone who has more than 2 abortions, I think that we should add people who have more children than they can financially and emotionally take care of. Why should the government and the rest of us have to pay because someone wants to keep popping out more babies? The children suffer. I'm from a family of 5 kids. My mom could not take care of us financially or emotionally. My dad was an abuser. She had no business continuing to have children. She'd leave my seven year old sister alone to take care of me as an infant. How messed up is that? I've counseled welfare mothers and have seen how tragic it is for the children. I've had clients who had 5 or 8 children who were all miserable, often taken away from them, and the mothers still wanted more kids! Why should they have the freedom to keep bringing more children into such horrible circumstances? I consider myself a feminist, but I don't think that reproductive rights should go to the extreme of allowing women to have all the children they want, regardless of the consequences to those children. Also, the men who keep fathering children they won't support should also have their ability to reproduce taken away. It's one thing to mess up your own life, but quite another to bring kids into a neglectful situation.

Yes i so agree with you Maria and madvicks!! I'm also really direct, i hate BS. If i have something on my mind, i'll say it, i can't just sit by.
Oh and another totally random thing. I'm taking an english language of persuasion class and we were talking about the Milgrim experiment (getting people to administer shock to others thinking they were, but really it was an act) and about torture, etc. Like how those US soldiers were taking pics of dead bodies with thumbs up. So gross. But yeah, our prof. gave us this scary statistic - some study asked fraternities if they could commit rape, but for sure they would NOT be caught, 100% no chance, would they do it? 1/3 (or was it 2/3? lol either way!) said YES they would since they wouldnt be caught. That is DISGUSTING! Ugh. Without repercussions (and many get away with it) they would do it! This is what makes me think we TOTALLY need something where people understand each other's pain and what they cause others.

Yes, we do. Isn't that study where people supposedly administer the electric shock scary?
What the hell is wrong with people?
I think the most real example of that happend in World War II. The furor (noi pun intended) against Jews was mounted so easily. And people just let them take people away. It wasn't just Jews. 5 million non-Jews died in those camps.
But the people who did the torturing and killing, used in their defense in the Nuremburg trials that now infamous phrase, "I vas only following orders." By not being in charge of the decision, they so easily lose their humanity and sense of guilt.
It's all too disturbing.
